Kids are loud, they’re messy, they’re intense and that’s how kids are supposed to be. Kids aren’t supposed to be well-behaved. They just need to learn how to regulate. They come into this world, spread their wings, and explore all the boundaries, you as a parent should keep those boundaries safe.
Being a parent was never so easy. Managing work, looking after the home, taking care of a toddler, you are juggling between all. Life has become so busy these days that it becomes difficult to cope as a perfect parent.
But there is no such thing as perfection when it comes to parenting. Every parent is perfect and they are doing their best.
I’m a mother of a five-year-old little girl and I have learned a lot these years and am still learning. When a baby is born, parents are also born. You learn every day.
So here are five surprising ways of happy parenting:
1. Language of Love
A child knows the language of love only. Shower the love as much as you can and you’ll see the difference. Nothing can beat the language of love and care. Whenever a child is having a meltdown, you often tend to be angry and say ‘Stop it, stop doing that, etc.’
I know, I know it’s a little hard to calm yourself in these situations. But remember these magic words- “Louder your child, softer your tone”. Stay calm and breathe. Talk to your child about what is bothering him or her. Always remember, that consistency is key in parenting. Be consistent with your calm behavior and trust me this is the only way you can get control over the situation. Remember the power of love and care.
2. Patience
Yes. You heard it right. Patience is the key to happy parenting. Tried and tested. Children can be unpredictable and challenging at times. Try to be gentle every time your child does anything wrong. Yelling is the worst thing you can do to your child.
I have seen parents beating or slapping their children every time. Trust me, those kids will become stubborn adults and you will be at fault. Children thrive on structure and routine. Set clear boundaries and expectations for your child’s behavior and stick to them. So, take a deep breath and practice patience with your child. Your life will become so easy.
3. Spend quality time
Having a good and healthy relationship with your child should always be your priority. Try to spend quality time with your child and make sure you listen to them every single time. This will help build a strong connection between you and your child. Toddlers are happiest when their mom or dad plays with them. Even an hour of playing can give the utmost happiness to your toddler. Believe me, your child is hungry for your precious time.
So, play with them, cry with them, laugh with them, be as crazy as you can be with your child, that’s all they want.
4. Take care of yourself
At times, parenting can be demanding and exhausting, so always make sure to take care of yourself. Get enough sleep, do some exercise, practice meditation, and take breaks when needed. Stop running after everything.
You are a human, not a machine. Always remember, that a happy parent raises a happy child. So, grab that me time when your child takes a nap and watches a movie or some web series. Pamper yourself every time you get a chance.
5. Practice positive reinforcement
You always want your child to become confident, right? Praise your child for their smallest achievements and good behavior. Trust me, this will help your child feel proud of herself. Your child will be more confident and it’ll help in building their self-esteem. Maintain a positive environment at home with no negativity at all.
This will help your child make good choices.
Blissful parenting is everyday learning. A child teaches you new things every day. Sometimes, parenting can be so overwhelming and It’s okay to ask for help when needed. Remember that your family, friends, or a professional can always help you out. It’s essential to remain calm and avoid getting frustrated or angry.
Remember, managing toddler chaos takes time and patience. Every child is unique and what works for one may not work for another. A little bit of effort and consistency is all you need. This will help your toddler learn to behave appropriately and reduce the chaos in your home.
So, wish you a happy parenting and keep learning.
